On my birthday, I’ve got a tradition to gift either sunglasses or sensible shoes to my current girlfriend. This birthday it was some shoes. The female employee approached me with the finesse and aire I would come to recognize that only runners posses.
She had me try on some shoes. The Altra Torrin 4.
From that day forward I’ve been wearing the Altra brand shoe. Their two main features are a spacious “toe box” and they’re “zero drop” meaning the heel and sole are at the same elevation. In almost ALL shoes the heel is elevated compared to the toe.
After switching to heelless shoes, my mobility has quite literally increased 100-fold. Since then, I’ve began running every single day. I define myself as a runner now, as every day I squeeze in a run. All because of some shoes not having heels. It’s worth a shot.
